My name’s May and I’m a 27 year old Palestinian-British traveller based in London, UK. Join me as I make my way around the world, wandering through new cities and exploring new cultures. This is the site for part-time or casual adventurers who loves travelling in luxury without breaking the bank, but also can’t just quit their job to travel the world.
My parents love to travel. Born and raised in Gaza, Palestine, that option was never available to them. So when my dad whisked my mum to London to start a life here, they waited for the British passport and then off they went!
My parents wanted that love for travelling instilled in us. We went to different countries every year and so as time went on, so did my curiosity and appreciation for the world.
The summer after i completed my degree, i went interrailing around Europe for a month discovering new cultures and learning its history. The travel life was addicting and exhilarating and I never wanted it to stop.
Shortly after, I began this blog as a place to put down my thoughts in an organized manner. It has become a memoir of my travels and was a life-changing, somewhat crazy spur of the moment decision.
Then the inevitable happened. I got a grown-up job. One of those “sit at your desk from 9 to 5″ positions where I had to beg to take my annual leave. I do still love my job hence why i cannot seem to pack up my stuff and travel full time.
I also got married to the love of my life in 2019 and i was so lucky he shared my passion in travelling. My husband and I are always keen to discover new places, so we do our best to fit travel into the gaps between our full-time jobs, with local micro-trips in the UK, long weekend getaways or the odd 2-week adventure abroad. Whatever we do in our everyday lives, we told ourselves that we should constantly be questioning the status quo and pursue happiness and adventure.
My aim is to give detailed accounts of my travels in order to help you plan your travels. I will provide tips, suggestions and guides where i can.
I hope this blog will inspire you and help you in your adventures for combining your full-time job with part-time travel. Please feel free to comment, ask questions and share your own experiences and travel tips.
